    Great article, thanks for sharing!

It is great to see that LAUSD's program is being used on the other side of the world! I have known for some time that suicide was a problem in Japan but was not aware of the effect on youth culture until recently. Particularly the class we had on Japanese film in which we witnessed the school girls who all planned to jump in front of the subway car, taught me more about this issue.

It is empowering to know that I work for a district that takes anti-bullying seriously and that makes proactive moves toward fighting bullying. At my school in particular we spent the first month back to school focusing on anti-bullying. Today we have had less than three issues of bullying come up this school year. The more we talk about it the more the students register the information and understand the consequences of bullying.

I hoping that for Japan the start of implementing this program and keeping up to it year after year will show great results in a decline of young suicides.

I was too unaware about the high incidence of suicide in Japan until the session of Japanese films. It was even more chocking that Japanese youth had a higher incidence. It's truly eye opening! Hopefully Japanese officials in schools can start a prevention program with the help of our district to stop teenage suicides!

LAUSD'S Holly Priebe-Diaz, who oversees Los Angeles Unified's anti-bullying programs, was invited to Nagoya, Japan, where officials have been creating a strategy to deal with a rash of teenage suicides.

I really did not expect to see that! LAUSD across the pacific! I read an article that in Glendora the school district hired a firm to monitor the social media accounts of their students. They were doing this because they had a suicide problem and they wanted to take some preventative measures.
