GuestThanks for posting these resources that can be found on you tube. I have watched some of them and will use them with my students in some of my future lesson plans. I especially liked the Chinese paper cutting video. In January I teach my students how to cut snowflakes and this video will really help me improve the beauty and variety of our paper cutting. Art is such an important part of our curriculum.

This is an easy to navigate site with elementary school age material. The first activity/lesson provides a nice introduction to important character traits that Confucius believed children should cultivate. The second activity/lesson allows children to interpret proverbs. Finally there is a map reading activity about ChinaChildren learn a great deal by creating art. I have included some excellent videos that will help children create art from Japan and China. I will be using them in my weekly art lessons this year. These videos are short and to the point. I learned Chinese brush painting in middle school and I can’t wait to have my students experience it. I found a web site that sells all the supplies too.

I have several students in my class who are very good artists who would like to expand their knowledge about art in general. This is a great way to introduce the class to a new art form as well as the Chinese culture at the same time. It's also a great way to motivate them to learn more about the Chinese culture and contributions the Chinese people have made to our world when we begin our unit on China for ancient civilizations.
