Spartly Islands, South China Sea

This article is from February 2015, but since Professor Dube discussed it in lecture, I wanted to post a link to this article pertaining to Spartly Islands being disputed by the Philippines, China other nations in the region.
The Philippines filed a diplomatic protest at the Chinese Embassy in Manila, asking China to stop the reclamations of these islands. I am wondering how will this situation be resolved? Only time will tell.
