This was a very interesting article. My lesson plan was on the one child policy. My students read about the policy and discussed why China took such drastic measures and the possible outcomes from this policy. We did not come up with this consequence and I am sure they will be interested in reading about it. It does make sense that a single child would have "social problems and personality disorders." The article mentions that these children are spoiled, selfish, and lazy.
I read an article on the Chinese children who are born under the “one child” policy. According to the article, those that were born under this policy are less likely to work with or compete with others. They are less trusting of others than those born before the policy. What is worrying some of those in China is the future of the country where the population will be run by those that are not interested or capable of cooperation or competition and would rather be by themselves than with others.
