In the forum Middle School Ideas, one of the teachers mentioned that "Ties that Bind, Ties that Break." is a good novel when teaching about Chinese traditions and customs. Are there any other novels suitable for middle school students to read that discusses East Asian culture or history?

A good novel for high school students to read on Japanese Imperialism is Lost Names by Richard E. Kim. It is about Japan's imperial rule over Korea from 1910 to 1945.
