As professor Dube recommended the visit to the USC Pacific Museum, and as part of the workshop, I decided to visit it. Certainly, the visit to this museum is an excellent complement to the readings and class lectures of the workshop. I took a tour, which help me to understand the history of the building as well as its architecture. It is interesting to see that the Chinese palaces have a patio in the middle, which reflects the Chinese beliefs about nature, values and spirituality. More importantly is the temporary exhibition that the museum has in display now, Royal Taste. After all the readings and class lectures of Professors Dube and Ye made easier and more meaningful the appreciation of this special exhibition . Visiting the museum and appreciating the beauty of the objects found in different tombs of those who ruled was an interesting experience. It is amazing to see how these items survived the test of time. Many of these items are made of Gold and precious stones. Most of these items in exhibition were excavated from royal tombs of the Jing Principality at Zhutouzui, Qichun. Among the objects in display are, several Hairpins, Hair Sticks, and pendants with different shapes. One in particular caught my attention it has the shape of a child Carrying Double Lotuses excavated from the tomb of Prince Zhuang of Liang. Items such as a Sun-and Moon-Shaped Plaques with Figures in high relief, with scenes in domestic settings. I Strongly recommend visiting this museum!!
