Thoughts on The Chinese Invasion of Vietnam

    United Communists?
I’ve never heard of this invasion until today. It is amazing how the ideas of control took precedent over the ideas of equality. The Soviets and the Chinese were on the brink of war and the Chinese actually invaded Vietnam after Vietnam helped to oust the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. Seems like we would support non-communist nations seemingly at all costs and while the communists couldn’t stick together.

    Vietnamese Resistance
If there is one county that handled “self-determination” really well, it seems we can look to Vietnam. Though Ho Chi Minh was a communist, he did hold some western values. Though he was poor, his days on the French ship may have given him enough travels to have the west appeal to him even though Ho had communist policies. They resisted the French, then Japanese, then French again, then Americans, then the Chinese… wow! Though they had help, it worked out. Sounds inspiring.
