GuestI went along with the group, as I felt that it would be an interesting experience. I have eaten at Korean BBQ restaurants before, but not so much what we encountered at this restaurant. It was interesting that after we ordered our meals, they brought all of the Korean vegetables and a bowl of eggs. One of our members promptly picked an egg up and cracked it on the table. It just happened to be a raw egg to crack into the hot tofu dish that came with the dinner. This was just the kind of experience that I was looking for, to understand the foods of different cultures. We had a good time discussing the seminar, and what it meant to each of us.

GuestDinner tonight was great! I have only had Korean BBQ a couple times before and this time I tried a tofu dish with shrimp and vegetables. I had to admit my ignorance when it came to properly extracting the meat from the whole shrimp that were in the dish, but I managed to do well enough for my first time! The flavors were delicious; quite the combination of textures, spices, heat intensities, etc. Although I was quite full, the dishes were fairly light and I loved all the different vegetables we were able to try (potatoes, cucumbers, turnips, bean sprouts, zucchini, mushrooms...). The kimchi was different in appearance and slightly different in flavor (maybe less ginger was used; less sour) than I'd had before. Definitely would love to branch out and try a different cuisine, but would be more than happy to go back and try something else on the menu!

GuestI'm up for Wayne's idea, walking Chinatown and chowing down there afterwards. My car has room for up to seven if I'm needed to drive.

GuestFor those who live in San Diego, my husband introduced me to Dumpling Inn which is in a little strip mall on Convoy. It is a total hole-in-the-wall, but regularly has a line and is delicious. Here's the address and phone number in case you want to visit: 4619 Convoy St Ste F, San Diego, CA 92111-2318, (858) 268-9638.

GuestWayne-Thanks for taking us on a taste tour of Chinatown. Your dinner choices were excellent and the round table format ensured everyone got a taste of a wide variety of authentic and not-so authentic Chinese dishes. I really enjoyed the spicy tofu and wished I'd saved room for more. Also, for anyone who didn't make the trip, we went to Little Tokyo and sampled "Mochi" there. Good stuff and I'd suggest a "guided dinner" tour to either a Japan, Korea or Chinese restuarant for future classes.

GuestI really enjoyed tonight's authentic Chinese cuisine. I would never have typically ordered or even tried any of these food items, but I must admit, it was delicious! Great job Wayne in selecting the round table of food and making the experience enjoyable. It was a vey enjoyable evening getting to know everyone.

GuestBefore we depart, I created a lesson plan for our group on this trip, please see my last post.
Bingo! We did it. There is a old saying:" You will become what you think of most the time". We made the history in USCI Residential 2011 on a self guided interactive East Asia Cultural "lesson".We went to the LA China Town with Cultural walking tour, then we all agreed to pick the right restaurant for the" Not so Authentic Chinese Food", we shared the custom or the manners of the Chinese Tea drinking, we ordered the food were Colorful, Tasteful, Healthy, Acceptable and Price Reasonable to every one. Through out the "Lesson", we had fun, get to each other more, learned from each other, relax, had a great moment. In the Little Tokyo walking tour, we experience the " New style" Ice cream called "Mochi", I liked it, thanks Ken, for your treat. We had an enjoyable evening.
