Awesome to hear the little ones are getting exposed to different cultures at an early age. I hope I can take my students towards the latter part of the year once testing is over. I seem to recall seeing something about the museum sponsoring trips/providing buses. Do you anything about that. On another note, thanks for sending out all those emails about opportunities for teachers to travel during the summer.

Thanks so much for informing us about this awesome museum. I have a lot of Korean students so it would be really helpful for me to go to a place like this and learn even more. Also have you thought about putting the Korean Bell into your music class? This is in san pedro and it is a peace offering to the US after world war II. Could be interesting to look into...

I couldn't find the strand to post my museum visit so I'm starting a thread. I took my kids to the Korean Cultural Museum on the 22nd of November and it was amazing. My Latino students had a few lessons on Korean music and culture and it was exciting to see them connect prior knowledge to artifacts and presentations that they were seeing. They had the chance to see how their name was spelled in Korean and learned a little Hanguel.

Another cool piece of the museum is the time line. You can see the important events in Korean history, including dynasties, but right under it they list the important events in world history so it gave the students a reference to know when all the Korean events were taking place.

My students (and the rest of the world) were astonished at how far Korea has come during the last 60 years. I hope this was a trip to catapult them into learning more about Asian countries. Check out the pic! [Edit by="gletford on Nov 30, 9:38:29 PM"]I can't get my jpg to post![/Edit]

Thanks for the info on the Korean Bell. I'm also looking into buying Korean drums to do a Korean Drumming Unit. Should be pretty interesting!
