    Ron,
my name is Sally Ashton and I am one of your reviewers. I have several questions about your unit - what level are your students? Is this a geography class or World History? and what book are you using?
Day 1- I like how you use the terms (rural/urban) to center your lesson and get the students to define the word and then describe it using their own knowledge. I do not understand hwo you ove tferom the US into Asia or have you been discussing Asia the entire time? Can the kids staart on their charts in class with you giving them examples? can they use a partner?
Day 2 - how did you work education into the lesson? I like how you have them choose where to live and to explain why. Again, can the students work together?
Day 3 - are you going to go over how to write an essay? Big topic for half of a class period (for my students)
Day 4 - out of curiosity, what is your next topic?

A great idea for going over the changing perceptions and demographics of Asia.

    Have a great summer!

    Hi Ron,

I'm Bethany, I'm your other reviewer, and I had some of the same questions as Sally: What grade level and course is this? In the class warm-up for the first day, are the students speculating about urban/rural life in general, or about Asia in particular? Are the students doing any reading to prepare for the first day or is all the content being delivered in class? Some of the topics you included on the charts they are to fill out weren't mentioned in your class notes, so I was a bit unclear on that, too.

Your directions and projects seemed very clear and allowed students to draw their own conclusions, which I thought was excellent. It seems like your primary focus is on China, so I'm wondering whether it might be best to keep the entire unit on China, unless perhaps you're going to build on the information about other East Asian countries at some other point in the course.

Thanks for sharing your lesson --

    Bethany
