Reflection: Session 4 – Debates (March 6)
Lately, the seminar is becoming topical in the sense that the Prof Dubey brings in the current and recent political facts to illustrate the content matter of the day. For instance, today meeting started with a recent quotation of U. S. Vice President Joe Biden. On March 1, 2012, he questioned, “Why have they not become [one of] the most innovative countries in the world? Why is there a need to steal our intellectual property? Why is there a need to have a business hand over its trade secrets to have access to a market of a billion, three hundred million people? Because they’re not innovating.” Upon analysis, it was concluded that the reasons for Biden’s comments were two-fold:
* Political comment because this is the election year
* Show the Democrats push hard on China

* Economic improvement in your area gets you promoted – problem like riots gets will get you down.
