    I thought this was a really interesting article. It gives insight to America through the eyes of a foreigner. I thought there were excellent comments about New York and the need for a big public park, unequal distribution of wealth, and JP. Morgan. His views on lynching, brings to light how such atrocities can become easily desensitizing after being the newspaper day after day. I thought his comments on libraries and the four kinds of noises made by the Chinese was hilarious.

    This was my first encounter with an early Asian journalist. It was interesting to know that early Chinese thinkers looked at American society in such a way to improve their own society and find models.

    I also found this article very interesting and think my middle school students might enjoy parts of it too. As you mentioned, the importance of public parks in busy places caught my attention. I have actually shared this bit of information with my husband because he grew up on the East coast and has always talked about the lack of open space here in California. He has always said to me that at the end of his days back East he would go for a walk in the forests or sit near a river and just release his day, but here we don't have places to escape for a brief moment and vent. I wonder if we did have more "large" public parks that weren't so crowded if we would be and/or feel more productive.
