English teachers and History teachers,
I know that time is always a huge pressure. We soon face CSTing so this idea may seem ludicrous. However, look over this information from Mary Connor, founder of Korea Academy for Educators (KAFE). If students need research and writing development, this essay contest could help with a topic I am sure they will find very interesting. Anyway, check this out:
This is fairly short notice since it is spring vacation time for some of you, but the organization that publishes the King Sejong, Admiral Yi, Chung Hyo Ye, and Fifty Wonders of Korea books has organized an essay contest for high school students. If you have students who write well and who would be interested, I would encourage you to involve them in this conest. The book on King Sejong can be found on the organization's website: http://www.kscpp.net (under publications). The winner will receive $500 and other prizes are offered in the amounts of $200, $100, and $50. An added incentive of $500 is available for History/Social Sciences Departments.
I am attaching the flyer that provides important contest details.
Best wishes to you all!
Sincerely,
Mary Connor, President, Korea Academy for Educators
