GuestMy name is Kevin Spachuk, I teach at San Fernando High School 9th and 10th grade English. I took this course because I am quite interested in Asia. I lived in Tokyo for 4 years and would like to know more about China and Korea. I would like to develop my knowledge of the region. I would be interested in major figures in science fiction by Asians.

GuestHi,
My name is John Hoarty. I teach at Bishop Mora Salesian High School in Boyle Heights. Salesian is an all-male, Catholic high school that serves about 390 students.
I am participating in the seminar for two reasons: I have a personal interest in Asian studies and my students lack knowledge of Asia. I want to become more informed and make sure that they do as well.

GuestHi everyone,
My name is Karen. I teach 6th grade English and History at Bethune Middle School in South LA. I'm taking this seminar because I want to learn more about South Asia for my own knowledge- it's such a huge area and plays such an important role in world affairs-- there's a lot I need to learn! I'm also in the seminar so I can do a better job teaching my students about China and integrating South Asia into the rest of my classes.
