Thought this might be a known but forgotten resource for the project: Museum instructional guides for exhibits. We have such great museums here in LA and many have such resourses right on the web.
I'm visiting the Pacific Asian Museum located in Pasadena today. I thought I'd check out their web-site beforehand and found a wealth of inspiration for out up-coming project there.
As I teach math, and have a passion for integrating the arts into my teaching, I loved their curriculum piece on Buddhist "Signs, Symbols, and Ritual Objects" They had several other good lesson plan ideas but I was really drawn to the Mandalas.
    Hope this is helpful, Dawn

Thank you for the tip about visiting the Asian Pacific Museum website for curriculum ideas, I will do that. I visited the museum not so long ago, it was an eye-opening experience. It made me aware of some of the contributions made by the diverse Asian cultures as well as some of the hardships they experienced in the past in this country. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to the museum.

Do you have the address of the museum or a website? Have you visited the Chinese American Museum in Los Angeles? http://www.camla.org/

The Pacific Asian Museum is located in Pasadena. If you want to know more information, you can visit the website at http://www.pacificasiamuseum.org. You can get information about the exhibits and they even have some great lessons if you navigate the links. I visited the museum about a year ago when I took another workshop. I really enjoyed it and would like to go back. It is definitly a must see.

I would like to plan a field trip to the Pacific Asian Museum. It sounds interesting. I've noted the web site and I will check it out for more information.

The museum is located in Pasadena and is actually quite freeway friendly-just off the 210. Not sure of the address but you could look on the internet or give them a call. It is a worthwhile trip as we now bring so much to the artwork...at least I felt that way. Small museum and small bookshop so it will be a quick trip in any event.

I have been meaning to take a trip to the Pacific Asia Museum as well, and I am especially interested to see the exhibit "Chinaman's Chance" that has been there this summer.

Another great small museum I stumbled upon is the Japanese American National Museum. See my make up assignments posts for more details.

Has anyone seen the Japanese Art exhibit at LACMA yet? It looks amazing, and I am hoping to see it this month. I know that the museum has a "pay what you want" policy after 5 pm, in case anyone is going just to see this one exhibit as I am.
