Just something I wanted to share in this forum. Since I've been taking this class, I watch more Asian specials on cable. A few months ago I watched a North Korean musical special. It was very interesting because I was looking for some of the things that I had learned in this class. And I found it. This special was about the North Korean president, Kim Jung-ll, allowing the Philharmonic Symphony to play in his country. The country was captivated. The satellite view showed that the country was well-lighted and for a few hours, I think every North Korean felt like they were living in a sense of luxury. However, when the concert was over and the orchestra, all dignitaries, concert goers, officials, etc., went home and attention was no longer on the country, the lights went out again. The satellite view showed just how dark North Korea really is. I remember thinking, "That's what I just learned in my Asian class."
