There was an advertisment in the Winter, 2007 "Education About Asia" periodical that we received in the mail as seminar participants regarding available grant money. (Page 65) The Northeast Asia Council (NEAC) of the Association for Asian Studies invites applications from teachers at every level for grants for instructional materials to improve teaching. These grants of up to $1000,00 are to be used to purchase books, software, audio-visual and other instructional materials to support special projects.

More information and the application form is available at http://www.aasianst.org. I visited the web site and was amazed to see the number of programs and opportunities available to teachers. Although the deadline for this year has passed, it seems that it is an on-going application cycle.

Funding for the program comes through the generous support of the Japan-United States Friendship Commission.

Thanks for information about this website. I also went to aasianst.org (The Association for Asian Studies) and found a lot of resources. The list of grants was impressive, but I was especially interested in the Asian book awards--always looking for new books for my classroom.

thanks for the information about the grant funds. I hope to get my librarian to help build up our library with some more Asian resources.
