Food, exhibits, performances
This is the major fundraiser for the Torrance Sister City Association. The proceeds support the student exchange program every summer. Each year, eight Torrance students are selected to visit Torrance's sister city in Japan (Kashiwa) for three weeks. Then eight Kashiwa students come to Torrance and spend the same amount of time. It is probably one of the best student exchange programs around. At the Bunka Sai (cultural festival), there will be ongoing origami and craft demonstrations, items for sale (clothing, plants), many cultural arts performances on the stage, exhibits (flower arrangements, Girl's Day doll display, etc.). Stop by for lunch: teriyaki plates, shaved ice, dessert, Japanese noodles (yakisoba).
On our April 21st class meeting, I will try to have a flyer available in class with the specific program for stage performances.
