I was lost with all the information I had to absorb on all the schools of thought. I did my best to compare them.
The preparation made me learn each school more deeply to see similarities and contrasts. The actual debate and Professor Dube's questioning made me focus my thoughts on how to speak as a Mohist and debate with the other groups.
I think this project is worthy. I would appreciate some basic questions on a worksheet to guide me in my coaxing of such a debate in an honors or AP class.
It is interesting to note that my AP text does not mention Mohism, probably since it did not take hold in China. I do think that it needs to be known that such an idea budded, albeit fruitlessly over time, and touched on ideologies we consider modern.....Christianity, socialism, utilitarianism, communism (in its more Marxist, not Maoist or Stalinist, sense).
This project would be a high point one of the China weeks we do in AP.
