I saw a film called Mountain Patrol. This film is based on a true story of a group of volunteers that trying to stop the poaching and illegal trade of the antelope, use all their time, money and many gave their lives. The film reveals how the Tibetan people wanted to protect the sacredness of the land and the antelope, since the Chinese government was not doing it. A reporter from Beijing was able to survive while accompanying the patrol on a chase that took the life of several volunteers, being because of the gun wounds, quick sand, or snow.
The story shows customs and clothing of the villagers of the Tibet, the ceremonies practiced when disposing of the antelope carcasses, the loving nature of friends, the preparation of the body of an important person and more.
A very interesting point to understand is that the group was trying to fight a gigantic band that had money, cars, resources and more people that were paid to work for them. At some point, even the good guys needed to sell the confiscated skins to be able to pay for fuel and weapons to fight against the poachers.
It’s reported that in 2001 China organized an official anti-poaching squad. The population of antelope is slowly coming back.
