I have visited The Bowers Museum a few times.
As part of their 2008 "Terra Cotta Warriors" exhibit, the museum has
had extended exhibitions about the indigenous Maio people of China.
The Maio people have used oils to "rainproof" outerwear such as coats.
It must have been a painstaking process since these articles of clothing
show little wear.
In addition, The Bowers Museum has extended their collection on Asia
with celebratory headpieces of gold, which were
made using hand tools.
The workmanship is exquisite!
It is worth a field trip or a teacher visit!
