GuestI have not referred to the texts for information on Mohism, but I have read some wikipedia articles and found them helpful. I learned that the philosophy of Mohism ushered in the study of logic and dialectics and even a precursor to science
I suggest that we divide our labor. If we each could become experts in different aspects of Mohism then we will be more successful. For example, impartial care, morality, meritocratic government, logic/how to assess correct views or San Biao, and attacks of ostention/ritual/aesthetics. Each member should take one of these and understand how to be defensive and offensive against any of the other groups. Lets use our texts and the internet.
There is a Chinese made movie called The Battle of Wits about Mohism. It was originally a Japanese manga interestingly.

GuestKevin, thanks for getting this discussion going so early and apologies for not replying sooner.
One issue that has come up for me (just this past Friday): I have parent-teacher conferences on Tuesday night and I will not be able to attend the seminar session. I didn't anticipate any issues because we have always had conferences on Thursday nights in the past.
In response to the questions that have gone out in Clay's and Miranda's emails, I have put together some info on Mohism. While it is easy to answer the question "Where do we go from here?" I am finding it challenging to determine "How do we get there?" After doing the reading and using an excellent website, http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/mohism/#SeaObjSta, (Stanford's Philosophy Encyclopedia), I have a pretty decent grasp of the ideas, but I'm not as sure on the "action plan." Do we try to come up with a way to actually implement Mohist ideas among the warring Zhou states?
I have attached my work thus far and will be checking the forum for the rest of the evening and tomorrow. If we are indeed researching the specific points that Kevin mentioned, I am happy to do any of them.
One note: I did not answer the question on "how things should be" as that is really laid out in the prior responses.
Again, my sincere apologies for not being there tomorrow. There is really no way I can miss conferences.
John
