This website is a great resource for all educators. It gives a variety of lessons that elementary school teachers can use on a frequent basis. It has a section on Haiku poems across the seasons. Elementary teachers often use holidays and seasons to guide social studies lessons so this website would be very helpful. It also has a section on Kodomo No Hi Children's Day Celebration. Teaching about different cultural traditions is part of our second grade curriculum. The children would love to learn about a Japanese day set aside to celebrate children. I found the section on Japanese Architecture for elementary school students particularly interesting. It used films, photos, and offered several craft lessons that would immerse the students in the subject matter. The site also offers lessons on the history of Japan from 1945 to present day. There are many other topics that this website covers. I feel it would be a great resource to teachers for all grade levels but specifically for those in the elementary level.
