I read recently that China is under fire because their women's olympic team look a little too young. The minimum age to compete in gymnastics is 16. Yahoo news is arguing that the Chinese are lying and that their gymnists are probably as young as 13 or 14.
My parents are Filipino. I am 26 years of age, but I look like i could still be in high school. Thats a 10 year age discrepancy. My sister, who is 22, still looks like she could be in high school as well. So on average, many asians tend to look younger than they really are.
On top of this, Asians tend (on average) to be shorter in stature than others. And then on top of this, most gymnists are really really small!!
Are Americans just bitter that the Chinese team is doing so well? What's up with all this controversy?
