As a teacher of high school World History, I have been appalled by the deficiencies of available textbooks. I was trained in ethnohistory at UCLA, and this problem is identical to the one we used to discuss in the 1970s and 1980s. For instance, instead of actually writing Native American History as a part of US history, little pieces (asides) are inserted inorganically into a mainstream EurAmerican perspective. It is a struggle to get any coverage of Asia which is even a quarter as detailed as that found for the west. (For instance, 20th century Asia gets one chapter in our current book, while the west gets about 10. ) Has anyone found a high school textbook that actually treats WORLD history, as the new field has been conceived in the past 20 years?
