Although this professional association has a fee, members have access to numerous publications, articles, seminars, conferences, and even job leads all associated with East Asia. No matter the members particular interest the professional development or just general exposure to cultural studies will enhance their knowledge base. The fact that interaction is possible with up to 8,000 members makes this an idea network for interested parties to stay abreast of current events, trends and news associated with the western Pacific Rim countries. Undoubtedly, educators will have a plethora of information to share with or expose their students to via classroom lessons, virtual field trips, primary sources, and expert commentary. The Association for Asian Studies is but one of many organizations with a website dedicated to East Asia, but it is one that I would recommend for both the amateur historian and accomplished scholar.
