i heard back from Venus...thank you very much, and yes, 1 checked bag and 1 carry on, as usual with travel. just need to be able to motor along well with what you bring. i agree that it is wise to dump the big internal frame backpack. good call.

I have packed my bags and i am ready to go.

Thank you for all of your input, I have changed from my large backpack to my coat bag and my day pack. My total weights is 32 pounds, one third of which are gifts. The sunglasses are lights but bulky, the polo shirts were the most of the weight. I cant wait to give those things away.

I decided to pack all my gifts into a small backpack that I will use as a carry on so it will not be added weight in my luggage.

I am testing out my equipment.

Its an internal frame Gregory backpack, I strapped on a nice day pack, and vola, it works. I will be training with it for the next month. I am going to hike around the school everyday. I also have it on display in my room to show the kids, that "Mr D" is on the road again. I want to show the students that there is a life outside of Escondido. At one of my infamous class parties a student pulled up on Pandora Willy Nelson's "On the road again". It was a big hit.
