This goes back a few lessons to Dr. Kim's lecture on Korea and some contemporary as well as older facts/issues in the region. This idea came to me with the proliferation of Asia themed baseball movies/topics that were coming up in my mind and were being featured on television.

    China: City Without Baseball: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_Without_Baseball
    Korea: YMCA's baseball team: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YMCA_Baseball_Team_(film)
    Japan: Rookies: http://asianmediawiki.com/Rookies_(2009-Japan)

All these films deal with a traditionally American past-time, but they do so through an Asian lens. It also works into the 7th grade curriculum, namely Gary Soto's Baseball in April, a collection of short stories I frequently sample from. Thoughts?

Anytime you can tie sports in to you lesson, you are likely to keep their attention, well atleast the boys.
