I'm not really sure if this fits into the website section or not, since I am not focusing on how it works with students. The website is:

I actually found this website helpful to me as a person who had never taken this seminar before and who had a limited background in Chinese history. I have been rather intimidated by the amount of new information I have been exposed to during this seminar, especially at the beginning. This website gives an easy to read general background summary of more current aspects of what is going on in China. It has lots of links to current event articles of general interest, but what I found most interesting was the background information. I wish I had found this link when I first started the seminar. There is a timeline link that starts in 1949 and goes to current events. I liked it because it was more detailed than many that I have seen. It not only listed events, but gave an explanation of what they were. Although it's rather late in the seminar, I just thought I'd mention this in case there are any others like me who teach at the primary level, have never taken the seminar before, and who do not have an extensive background in Asian history who are still trying to piece all of the lectures and readings we've had together for themselves. It may also be helpful for teachers to use with students in the higher grades (?).

I read BBC News on Wednesday, 7 May 2008. The title of the news is Landmark China-Japan deal agreed. I am glad to hear the positive news that both country leaders started visiting each other. The relationship between China and Japan had tension due to the wartime history. However, analysts say because China economic is increasingly growing which helps tie the relationships between two nations. China President Hu Jinto and Japanese leader Yasuo Fukuda agree to take responsibilities for the world’s peace development in the 21st Century.

This is a great website for general information about nations. It would be an excellent starting point for any report of information regarding a certain nation. In a 7th grade world history class this resource seems even more useful than the cia factbook website which has lots of information but can be difficult to understand. Thanks for the website link.
