I have had great success polling teachers at my school about what they currently teach (in relation to China or Japan) and what they need for curriculum/classroom resources. I sent out a school-wide e-mail and put a notice in the bulletin, as well as contacted each dept. chair, and have had several responses.

My goal is to generate a quazi budget proposal in order to get funding from our school's many resources. The PTSA has already donated $200 and I expect to get at least $250 from the UNI High Foundation, more if the budget permits it and another teacher agrees to share the request with me. I might even have the opportunity to purchase some camera/video equipment to document the trip.

Many teachers around school have approached me to ask questions, learn about the program, and inquire about how they could begin to include China and Japan into their curriculum so that they might participate in my work. Wow. The surges of excitement about this trip are knocking me over! And I must admit, I enjoy being able to serve as a resource to other (esp. veteran) teachers
