I read an article written by Anthony Faiola entitled, "Victims of Cambodia's Khmer Rouge Fear Derailment of Trials" (Washington Post). In this article, the journalist writes about how the UN is frustrated with completing a tribunal to try the leaders of the communist Khmer Rouge regime.

The UN's tribunal is being stalled by members of the Cambodian government--some who were former members of the Khmer Rouge themselves.

Many victims and family of victims were disheartened to hear that the tribunal was being delayed and investigations were being postponed.

Late last year, I attended a meeting at CSULB. A documentary was being shown and it depicted an American traveling throughout Cambodia, interviewing former Khmer Rouge leaders. While he was on his quest, the government had sent 'watchers' to follow him around, making sure he did not ask too many questions. (Or the right questions?). When the government has something to hide (especially a government like Cambodia's)...that's pretty disturbing. Come on Hun Sen, who are you trying to kid???

How can be Cambodia plan to healthily move forward in the world when she's still stuck in the past, trying to put a band-aid on a gangrene-infested wound?
