I was commenting to my students just before the Christmas break that China makes all the decorations for the holidays.
Imagine that: the plastic baby Jesus you see in the manger manufactured in an officially atheistic country!

This might be a worthwhile entry point to get students engaged on a lesson on America’s past interest (and current one)in China as a market during the age of imperialism / open door notes. But of course, noting that America now has become China’s market for all sorts of goods, including those religious articles.

Piggybacking on what Jones said. Not to mention the easter decorations, ipads and iphones and everything else.

I was impressed to see China Daily's 2-page spread (ad supplement) in the LA Times today. (1/6/12) China Daily's goal is to promote and review the business of Chinese companies in the US. The need for this information is growing as global business is constantly expanding. One person quoted in the ad stated that Chinese foreign direct investment in the U.S totaled $5 billion in 2010 and Chinese firms have created 10,000 American jobs.
