It's sad to hear about disaster like this happens on the heels of the Korean ferry incident. However, I'm glad that this accident was caused by a natural event. I hope China has learned something from the botched rescue effort in Korea and manage to save as many people as they can. Incidents like this reminded me of a similar ferry accident that happened a few years ago in the Philippines and India. In all, the common thread that runs through all these incidents is that fact that most of the passengers are poor civilians who lost their lives because the ferry company decided that they would make more money by tossing safety regulations out the window.

It is amazing how aware I became about anything China after the institute. The instate accomplished its goal with me.
It was very saddening to know that so many people perished in this accident. No words can bring comfort to the families left behind by the victims. Only prayers and time will lessen the pain of the loss. May their souls rest in peace.

I agree, recently I been seeing news about China online like at Yahoo.com. After, taking the class I'm more aware of East Asian countries and what is going on in those areas of the world.

Very unfortunate news involving a ferry with some 400 passengers aboard. Live updates can be found at the Guardian link.
