I think my family is exactly as you described. My parents came to the US in the 1960s. My sisters and I were born here and are Chinese but yet American. We lived in a Chinese household though everything we knew outside was "american." My nieces and nephews are basically just assimilated now. Not that I dont think I am. I speak Chinese, but knew little about China.
