I am wondering if there is anyone out there who knows much about Chinese/ Herbal medicine. Can someone get me facts or opinions as to whether it is comparable, better, or worse than American medicine? Of course around here you get a million opinions on the subject. I am especially curious beacsue I know a few people whow sware by it. When i was in college, another student was diagnosed with Leukemia and given two months to live by her American doctor, who told her there was nothing more they could do. Coming from a Chinese family they decided to try Chinese medicine. She did it, they give her very different treatment than her American doctors, and her Leaukemia went into remission never to be seen again. THat was seven years ago, and she is still healthy. I am very cuirous about Chinese medicine so if anyone knows a good herbalist, or has any info on it, please share!

I grew up around both Chinese and Western Medicine. My mom would always include chinese herbs in her soups. I think the premise for many Chinese Medicine is to balance one's yin an yang. When Yin and Yang are balanced, then one's body is in harmony and that will prevent illness. I myself have not tried acupuncture, but have know many friends and family members to have tried it. Both my mom and grandma has used acupuncture for arthritis pain and neck pain. Acupuncture may also be used for muscle and back pain. I have a close friend who visits a Chinese Herbalist on Atlantic Blvd. in Monterery park for the past year for his muscle and back pain.
