China and Latin American trade has certainly increased over the last few years. However, in the case of Mexico there are barriers to trade and investment that need to be overcome. Primarily, a trade imbalance. While Mexico exports approx. US $7 B it imports close to US $60 B. Many experts contend that this model of trade imbalance is unsustainable in the long term to foster a stronger economic relationship. Also, in order for Mexico to increase exports to China, Mexico needs to develop long term concrete projects that will be mutually beneficial to both countries.
