I have always, at least since the 70's, considered the Tao as one of the wise books of philosophy, but I have always found it too vague for me to really put into my life on a practical level. Still, I find it relaxing to read and the book I have is beautifully illustrated. I look forward to hearing Clay's viewpoint in the philosophy of the Tao and how it impacted China, and whether it manifests today in the people's lives.

I agree that the information I am reading on Daoism is so vague that it is hard for me to imagine it in my life on a practical level. Regardless, I enjoy learning about it and love the idea of yin-yang. At one time in my life (maybe middle school) I thought it was merely some sort of pop icon thing people liked to wear on their "surfer necklaces!" It wasn't until college that I really learned what it meant and respected the idea.

I must be a Daoist because my demeanor is one of a B personality. I noticed the A's always want to make sure everyone else is following their lead. The Daoist is following their own paths, finding their own truths. This is not just to be a non-confromist, but a genuine search for inner truth. I guess "going with the flow" can frustrate anyone who needs leading or being led. I can see how this philosophy could be disregarded in the modern world.

I though Daoism was just a religion. I did not know that it was a school of thought.
I love one of Lao Zi's thought. Being content, one will always have enough. That means I should be content with what I have, that way I do not need to continue buying more things which ended up going to Good Will, I should save my shoppying money to help the needy.

This was the group I wanted to be a part of from the beginning. I like the Daoist beliefs more. The reasons why were that the Daoist belief was to live life with balance, go with the flow, and that people are fundamentally good.
