GuestI agree that the asian diet might not be the healthiest. There was an article in the paper about the fact that pork is to China like chicken in to the US. If that's the case, how healthy can they be? Plus Chinese food is filled with heavy sauces and fried items. Not so good for you...
I wonder, if the Chinese cuisine is not so healthy, how do they stay so thin?

GuestNot only is obesity and weight up in countries like Japan, but so is heart disease. Studeis show that many Asian countries have adopted the red-meat eating habits of the west, that was not the norm prior to this last decade. The economic development in that part of the world has occured to fast, and these countries haven't taken precauations to adjust. In addition the western eating habits, many of these asian countries have picked up the sedentary lifestyle of westerners, as well as their smoking habit. Problem is as of now, the government is not taking this too seriously, and public awareness is relatively low.

GuestIn response to last couple blogs, I would disagree with the generalization that the asain diet isnt the greates. Obviously Asia is made up of many different countries. While China has much fried foods and a ton of salt, Japan is obviously and extremely healthy diet. Some rate it as the best diet in the world, while others rate it second to the Medditerranean diet, because the Japanese diet doesn't "help with strength." In addition, India as well as other countries have a relatively pretty healthy diet. I would guess they stay thinner becase of portion sizes. You look at the French diet filled with sweets and creams, but its all about portions![Edit by="kjelenic on Jul 29, 10:34:11 PM"][/Edit]

GuestIt is interesting to take note how so many cuisines has become more processed as we have more and more food chains that claims to bring a bit of authentic cuisines. Perhaps, the questions isn't really one of which whether Chinese food or American food is less healthy but one of what happening to food culture? I think since we have learned to create technology such as microwave or create food chains to bring more food faster to more people, the quality of making those food has been over processed and thus bring negative health issues to many cultures.

GuestI do think it is a myth that Asian food is more healthy than other foods. It seems if we follow the rules of good dieting no matter what crusine we digest we will better off. I am speaking of a macrobiotic diet and one full of fresh vegatables and fruits. In addition, if we consume less beef than we are conserving the environment. I heard a number that it takes 250 pounds of grain to produce one pound of beef. This does not include the methane ----organically produced. That is not a high efficiency ratio. JC
