    Hey Folks,
These drawings and paintings are extraordinary. Estelle Ishigo was a blonde caucasion born in 1899 in Oakland, CA. She met her husband, a Japanese American born in L.A. in the 1930's. They fell in love and got married in Mexico, as it was illegal for couple of mixed race to do so at that time in California. Estelle went with her husband to the Hartz Mountain Internment Camp for the duration of the war an it tells the story of the Japanese relocation in a general sense.
There is a short film (25-30 minutes long) of the couples experience at the camp and it tells the story of the Japanese relocation in a general sense.
The short documentary is given by spoken word from Estelle's diaries told with still photos and Estelle's illustrations in incredible charchol drawings and water color paintings. The haunting soundtrack lends an effective quality to the work as well.

Two thumbs way up. Good for grades 8-12. Below is the gallery connect.
