    Movie Review – Wing Chun
My blind search on Netflix lead me to a Japanese movie called, Wing-Chun.(1994). The movie has 4stars and the logline is: Female martial arts expert Wing Chun vanquishes enemies with ease, but the reemergence of her childhood sweetheart throws her emotions into a tizzy. This film is considered an action film with a female lead Michelle Yeoh.a Malaysian actress but its more of an action comedy if you ask me. The language I think they are speaking in the move is Cantonese/ Standard Mandarin. The movie has subtitles.

There is a foul mouth side kick with Wing Chun who brings the comedic moments. Wing Chun fights anywhere from 10 to 20 men at a time. There is one scene where she fights a man name Master Wong and she embarrasses him miserably. This movie is more comedic in its delivery. The amount of bandits she is able to beat without any help is unbelievable.

The men clamor over a younger beautiful girl selling tofu at the shop. The movie has many sexual innuendos. This movie’s plots and storylines where a little hard to follow. I believe there was some kind of mix up, mistaken identity and some sort of love triangle. I don’t know the movie lost me at some moments. The fight scenes were comical and fun to watch though.

If I were to show this movie to students, I would want my students to focus on the role of woman and men in society. One question of focus would be: Is marriage important and why? This movie may be suitable for upper grades due to the language.
