GuestHello,
My name is Mladen Christov. Currently, I teach English 10 at International Studies Learning Center in South Gate, CA. My experience includes teaching some other languages as foreign languages, as well as high school Social Science. I am a curious person and I am looking forward to an informative and full-blooded academic course.October 4, 2010 at 1:34 pm #26161Anonymous
GuestMy name is Brenda Miramontes and I teach World History/AP at South El Monte High School. I taught AP for the first time last year and realized I was deficient in my ability to teach about Asia. I look forward to taking these resources and ideas and incorporating them not only in my AP course but in my regular World History as well.

GuestHello all,
I'm Danny Magana, a teacher of Language Arts at South El Monte High School.
I began my teaching career in a small migrant community on the border in Texas. I now teach at a predominately Latino school in South El Monte. I've worked very little with Asian students throughout my career. I do have a small amount of Asian students. I'm looking to find ways to validate and familiarize myself with their culture so that I may perhaps be more effective with them.October 11, 2010 at 5:36 am #26163Anonymous
GuestHi,my name is Renli Zhang. I am teaching 9th grade English and 9th and 10th Madarin at International Studies Learning Center. This is my sixth year teaching in America. I am so excited to have the opportunity to learn more about Chinese history as well as my neighboring countries. I am also excited to read and learn Chinese history in English. I was brought up and educated in China. I came from the city of Dalian- a very small coastal city in Liaoning Province,China, which is the neighbor of North Korea and Japan. If you go to visit my hometown, you will see a lot of Japanese-style architecture. Anyway, I am looking forward to getting to know you all and working together with you.

GuestLong overdue, but here goes. I am Matthew Ball. For the past 7 years, I have been teaching 7th Grade ELA/ELD at Nightingale Middle School. I am extremely excited about his course because History is my other passion and I always try to incorporate History within the context of the literature we study in class. For example, we read a Rudyard Kipling story titled "Rikki tikki tavi", which is set in India, Prior to reading, I show my students a PowerPoint presentation of the culture and geography of India. This is such a great intro to the story and they love it. It is my desire to incorporate more Asian literature and studies into my curriculum.

GuestI also am a bit overdue with my postings...(i am not very tech savvy, although think I figured this out). My name is Martha Guerrero. I am a high school World History teacher in Boyle Heights. I am enjoying the seminar thus far. I have been sharing details about the class to my students every week. They too seem intrigued. I look forward to learning more for the purposes of the AP World History course I am teaching.

GuestHello Everyone,
I just realized I have posting on many different topics and have not introduced myself to everyone. My name is Chris Miller and I am the lone P.E. teacher in the group. It is very nice to see such a good group of motivated teacher who are interested in expanding their knowledge base. I am sure I will gain a lot of good information I can pass on to my students when i ultimately go back to teaching history.

GuestWay to long overdue, but here it goes, I began teaching at South El Monte High School in the 06-07 school year. I teach World History, but in the past I have taught US History as well as AVID and intervention classes. Teaching about China to the students its important, its rising to become the next super power with the US, and in a global economy, especially with low income students that I work with, it is important for them to understand not only how, but why China is becoming a global economic superpower in the future.
