Good morning,
My name is Susie Montano, I am an English teacher at Cabrillo High School in Long Beach, I teach 9th and 10th grades. Cabrillo is an inner city, low ses school of 4 thousand students primarily Hispanic, also Afr. American, Samoan, and many Asian countries are also represented.
I'm very enthusiastic about this seminar because I'm the Lead Teacher for the International Studies small learning community on campus (of which there are 6). That means I really need to research opportunities to expose the students to global news, issues, art, etc. The students are enthusiastic once they encounter new areas for study. The difficulty is getting them involved and bringing the things to them.
Any suggestions, sites, recommendations, etc. are welcome.
