The time spent discussing Marco Polo journey to China left me a bit how Columbus was left after reading an account of the travels of Marco Polo – thinking a lot about the East. I definitely plan on reading one of the versions of Marco Polo. Hopefully from it I can draw excerpts to have my students read and perhaps discus whether or not Polo actually made it to China. Is there a version of Marco Polo that is accepted as the ‘cannon’ or will any version suffice? Also is Rubric’s book on his China travels something anyone would recommend for use with our 10th or 11th grade students?

Marco Polo was a favorite game of mine. I would play it for hours in the pool on vacations with my family. It's great to know where it comes from.

The game Marco Polo is based on the idea that Marco Polo did not know where he was going, therefore the person who is "it" calls out to the other players to decide where to go. Marco Polo is a modified form of tag.
