*** In late Sept. 2007 Lawyer Gao Zhi-sheng was arrested for writing an open letter to the U.S. Congress referring to the Olympic games as the 'handcuff Olympics'.
*** In Dec. 2007 Wang Da-jia, an on-line commentator, was arrested in Guilin, Guangxi province, for "...complaining that the excess spending for the Olympics would force the people to 'live like pigs and dogs'".
*** Jude Shao has been imprisoned for 10 years. Chinese legal experts at Beijing's People's University, who have studied his case said he should receive a retrial.
