at this moment i am unable to find the graceful woman's name who led us on the tour at the gardens but i will do my best at thanking her for the lovely tour. she made a point that stuck in my mind when she said, and i paraphrase here, that the japanese seem to have had a knack to have been in contact with china in one way or another when china was at one of its many cultural peaks, and japan having the sensability to take certain aspects from it and manifest it into their own culture. there were the moments when she gave the background of the poems, written by the tea house, in historical meaning and then recited them to the group. i was gladly impressed as well as delighted to hear this because at the time my classes were doing a unit on poetry.[Edit by="squinn on Jul 31, 10:34:16 PM"][/Edit]
