In the Art, Literature & You seminar this summer we were talking about artwork on trucks in Asia, this reminded me of the buses and trucks with artwork all over Thailand (especially rural Thailand). Then this article on CNN showed up. I think it's a cool way to see how other countries view art on vehicles. Overall people keep their cars free of art, and use a bumper sticker or two to decorate. Students however would be quick to point out that Hot Wheel cars, and cars in the Fast and the Furious movies are replete with examples of art laden cars. I think kids would enjoy a comparison of the kinds of artwork that can exist on building and cars, it certainly would help to connect them to other cultures where they can see that art is a binding trait for many.
