I taught 7th grade for the last 3 years, and have been moved to 8th to follow my kids (this will be only my 4th year teaching). Since I know my kids so well, I am excited at the potential to use them as guinea pigs with adding Asia into the Early American History.

My name is Linda Guthrie and I live and work in Los Angeles. I am an East Coast transplant and I bring a lot of my cultural biases from there. I teach 8th grade English and I believe in a multi-cultural curriculum since our students are living in a global village.

My name is Miriam Martin and I am a Resource Specialist Teacher at Int'l Studies Learning Center HS in South Gate. I've taught for 15 years and this will be my 2nd year at the HS level. Previously I had taught at the elementary level, but quickly grew to love secondary. I'm excited to learn and gain new knowledge about Asia and with it broaden my students' perspectives and create global citizens. I support my students in all their classes and the goal is to incorporate new learnings of Asia to expand their views and curiosity of the world.

Hello all,
My name is Jessica Varko and I teach at Porter Ranch Community School K-8. I've taught elementary school for over 11 years in LAUSD and 2 additional years in Thailand. This upcoming year I will be changing hats, teaching Spanish 1A to a very diverse group of students. Last year, in my classroom alone, I had only 2 students that were monolingual. Most students could speak another language other than English, sometimes 3! Korean, Mandarin, Tagalog, 3 different Indian languages, Spanish, French, Arabic, Armenia, Russian, German. Oh, and we also have a Korean Dual Language program on campus!
