Pretty interesting article. I've honestly never even heard of this island which is part of the Mariana islands, but it looks like this is a contentious issue. The US Marines would be potentially joined by other allied forces on the island for training exercises that would include live demonstrations. Pacific Islanders argue that such use would likely destroy their island. I'm curious to see whether or not this plan will pass.
