I'm not rooting for anyone to commit suicide, but here in the US we recently went through a catastrophic fiscal crisis in which some very senior officials in banks and government caused the economy to crash. Millions of working/middle class people lost trillions of dollars when property values plummetted, pensions were appropriated by management, and jobs were lost. This crisis can be clearly laid at the doorstep of the financial ruling class, and yet they didn't get as much as a reprimand, much less the public humiliation that might have resulted in suicide in Japan. Our corporate elite often boasts about being accountable, but in fact they have resisted any form of accountability.
