The goals of China's nationalist party are so clearly stated in this article. China had been under Manchu rule, was struggling with foreign influence from the Europeans and the Japanese. I know the nationalist party was ultimately defeated in the Communist Revolution, but I had to wonder, would the national identity of the surrounding countries, many of whom had previously been tributary states would their autonomy have been respected?
